Many of us are looking for job these days.If you are in that position, the basic question is why should someone hire you ?
Many of eligible candidates have fuzzy assumptions as to why people get hired for.
- They spend lot of time to do research on company & not enough time to do research on themselves.
- They fall into a trap of “facts & figures”.
- They think they can intimidate the interviewer by mugging & reciting reams of data.
Interviewer is not looking for specific factual answers to questions. You are not there to pass a test on company data.
Interviewer sees
- How we think,
- How we formulate our responses &
- How we relate things.
The main aspect of the interview is proving what you can do for the company & how you can provide the benefits better than anybody else, not just what you know about the company.
Obviously we should know something about the company. That will help us know the needs of the company, to think of what we can offer.THAT ALONE IS NOT ENOUGH.
But to Really have a positive interview experience,
- We need to do research on ourself to have a good understanding of ourself.
- What situations we thrive in? Why ?
- What is our strengths? What is the best way to present our strengths during interview?
Next time you prepare for an interview, go ahead & do your research on the company, but dont forget to do your research on yourself too. Then you will be ready to answer the question “Why should we hire you” ?
